Chief winemaker and the current owner of Domaine de la Jasse, Bruno Le Breton is heavily influenced by proprietor Hans Walraven's love of intense, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon. The most prolific trader of Bordeaux Grands Crus in the Netherlands, Mr. Walraven acquired Domaine de la Jasse almost 15 years ago and transformed the property into a world-class Cabernet dominated vineyard.
One of winemaker Bruno le Breton main secrets for the constant high quality performance and improvement of his wines is about replicating the élevage process, which was developed in Bordeaux. This ageing process is particularly suitable for La JASSE’s rich, ripe, concentrated and dominated Cabernet-Sauvignon varieties, for which La Jasse wines are so famous for and are perfect to support and benefit to the maximum of Bruno’s “cuvaisons longues” on OAK Barrels. By replicating the Bordeaux élevage process, Bruno’s is able to mature his young powerfull La Jasse wines into a magnificent Grand Vin which are of course not original Pauillac styled cuvees, but in blind tasting could easily stand up to at least a similar quality level!.
M.W. Tim Atkin & Bruno Le Breton
Bruno Le Breton is a very talented and experienced oenologist who respects the basic philosophy for the creation of FINE WINES, such as: true to the soil and (micro) environment of the vineyard, a limited production of grapes, optimal hygienic conditions and of course aging in OAK barrels. As for the vinification of all La Jasse wines, Bruno constant aim is to realise the maximum extraction out of only pure, sound and fully ripe fruit. He’s a great specialist in analysing new wine-making techniques and linking them to the old famous wine traditions. His talent and discipline to always follow and respect the basic philosophy for the creation of FINE WINES lead to a lot of international success, respect and an impressive Palmares list showing already 12 GOLD medals, a Top 100 GOLD award trophy and many, many more international medals & distinctions with several of his La Jasse wines!
